What is IT’S TIME TO THINK?

IT’S TIME TO THINK is a cultural movement made up of 300 volunteers around the world with one mission: to promote critical thinking, honest conversation across differences, and the pursuit of truth. We do it through several formats, the most well-known being the Thinkglaos. We’re currently active in 41 cities across 10 countries around the world.

What’s a Thinkglao?

The name says it all. A Thinkglao is an event where four things happen: you think, you share your opinion, you drink a beer (we’re big fans of Estrella Damm), and you meet interesting people.
There are a few things that make a Thinkglao unique:
A simple setup: a lightbulb, a round rug, and a speaker standing just inches away from the audience. Knowledge flows when there’s no distance.
A strict timer: the speaker has 18 minutes to make us think. Not a second more. The moment the timer goes off, the debate begins.
No chairs: everyone sits on the floor, right next to the speaker, who stays standing. This is pretty much how we imagine Socrates in ancient Greece.
Laughter: people say humor is the best way to connect with those who think differently. Thinking deeply matters, but once we’ve done that, it’s time to enjoy. For a very small price (we don’t make a cent), you get dinner, wine, beer, music, and really great company.

How Did This Start?

It’s Time To Think was born in March 2020, created to offer digital spaces where young people could use the lockdown to actually stop and think. After the pandemic, in 2022, it moved from the screen to real life. That’s when a new cultural movement began, built on local communities committed to developing critical thinking.
Today, our events take place in more than 40 cities around the world, and we’re more excited about the offline world than ever.
